I have been obsessed with journaling ever since my school forced us to use planners every day, plotting out the torture of assignments yet to be completed.
Ends up not only was it very useful, it was pretty therapeutic too!
Since then I have been on the hunt for the perfect planner/journal
for me. I'm artist by nature, I hate buying things that are wasteful or costly and I need flexibility. I take my planner everywhere, so it needs to be small, light and easy to go. I would lose my head if I wasn't attached but I hate feeling like pulling out my journal is 'Plotting my life on pages'. It feels like a chore and creepy. I don't like sorting my life into boxes of morning, noon and night. I am too busy to memorize a syllabus of icons.
I just needed something MORE but less, if that makes sense. I needed more creative control and less ridged planning. Less $10 sticker sheets and more of the ability to draw what connected me with today.
I wanted a journal with more DEPTH.
Enter Artistic Journal. My journal is a mix between planner, sketch pad, writing and emotional journal and personality tracker.
So far I'm quite ahead on planning my 2017 journal but I will be sharing past and future Plan-With-Me posts to show what I have learned as I went! I have made many mistakes and my journals are far from perfect, perfectionist, avert your eyes... my journal isn't about being perfect.
When I say artistic, I mean free to do what I want. I'm not limited by what I have to buy to make it look nice. I make it look the way I want to. That changes, of course, as my moods do.
I love how it almost looks like different journals completely from one page to the next. Not stuck in what is the 'in' pattern or trend at the moment.
I have started my weekly writing prompts on every weekly spread and also a weekly drawing prompt. The more specific the drawing prompt is, the longer it takes me to draw something. The more vague, the more creative I get. I may or may not continue with the drawing prompts after 2017 because of that.
there is it! My less waste, artistic journal in progress. Next, let me know if you would like to see 2016's Journal and how my style and needs have changed OR if you would like to see more pages of 2017 and a step by step Plan-With-Me post!
Here is a great deal on recycled journals!!!
